Port Blair is the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, housing the only commercial airport here, it is well connected by both sea & air and is known as the gateway to the islands.
It resembles the tale of any other city in India. Hotels, restaurants, resorts, and shops adorn its streets. Apart from that, it also has a lot of history associated with it, but not just any, it’s the history of our fight for freedom.
Due to the number of visitors traveling via Port Blair, the island has the best choices in hotels and staycations offering rooms for every budget.
Water Sports choices on the island are abundant and range from everything from Scuba Diving and Parasailing to simpler ones like Snorkeling and Jet Skis.
Corbyns Cove beach is the most visited beach of Port Blair. In fact, according to a 2017 survey by Eternal Andamans, it is evident that 7 out of 10 people visit the beach on their trip to the isles. Needless to say the place lives up to its name by offering one of the most ecstatic sceneries in the islands. Corbyns cove beach has one of the longest constructed shorelines in Port Blair shaped in a crescent way that stretches up to 1.5 Km in length, with a fairly wide area open on both sides. The beach is divided into 2 parts in width, one for relaxation and the other for swimmers, which also acts as a wall in times of a high tide. It has abundance of coconut trees that provide the feel of tropical relaxation.
The Wandoor Beach is located 25 KMs from the Airport and is one of the major attractions in Port Blair. It comes under the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park area along with several other attractions.
The beach itself is located at a remote place, which had to be reached by driving through lone roads that take you through the forests. The trip to the beach is amazing because you are occasionally
greeted by sudden jump of wide blue sea, visible from between the forest canopy.
The Wandoor beach is boasts the largest shoreline in Port Blair, easily stretching up to 15 KMs, which is filled by clena white beach, complimented with fallen tropical trees after the 2004 tsunami, and has clear blue waters that invites you to take a dip.
The water depth is perfectly gradual, which means you can go somewhat far into the water without having to worry about the depth above-neck.
Mundapahad Beach is located almost 1.5 KMs from the bus stand in Chidiya Tapu and you can easily cover this distance by foot, although vehicles are allowed inside and there is ample space for parking.
The complete journey takes you through a thin road surrounded by forest on one side and the open sea on the other, which quickly turns to be covered by forest on both sides. As soon as you reach there,
you are greeted by a vast open beach on the right side, covered with glistening white sand and crystal clear blue waters.
The beach has a lot of tall fallen trees, from the 2001 tsunami, some of which are carved into sitting benches and tables near the shoreline.
Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex, commonly known as just "Water Sports Complex" is one of the most easily accessible tourist attraction in Port Blair, loved by both tourists and locals alike. Yes, locals love this place too.
The complex is located next to the Marina Park, very near to the Cellular Jail, and is conveniently located near the bus terminal, so you can plan your trip without a second thought.
The best thing about the area is that the scenery from the complex is wonderful and has a lot of benches and chairs where you can relax and take a break from the day. The open sea area brings a lot of fresh air breeze that refreshes your mind and body.
